  • Intermittent fasting. If you are overweight then going for several hours to even a full day without food is incredibly helpful for balancing fat-storing hormones like leptin and insulin. My favorite fasting protocols include 2, 24-hour fasts each week, one meal a day, every other day fasting, or 16-hour fasting windows (see more information below).   • Every other day fasting (3, 24-hour fasts each week): Every other day fasting is very similar but you can pick whatever 3 days work best for you based on your schedule. Most people who use this method do 1, 24 hour fast on Monday then again on Wednesday then again on Friday.
  • OMAD (one meal a day): One meal a day is exactly as it sounds, you eat one gigantic meal each day.
  • 16-hour fasting windows: This is similar to the one meal-a-day plan but it allows you to eat for an 8-hour window (as opposed to just one meal) every day. This means that each day you will be fasting for at least 16 hours. This is an easier way to jump into fasting if some of the other options seem too intense for you.

It doesn’t really matter which one you choose, just give it a try for a few weeks to see how your body handles it.

When you are losing weight in a safe and effective way the best way to measure your success is not the scale!

Here’s why:

The scale is a measurement of your total body mass which takes into account many factors including your fat mass, your muscle mass, and your water weight.

Most people who are trying to lose weight fail to understand that obesity is associated with two things:

A decline in muscle mass and a rise in fat mass.

When losing weight correctly, it’s very common for the body to both build more muscle mass and lose fat mass simultaneously.

This often results in the scale staying at the same weight for a few weeks.

This is perfectly normal, and something you want to occur, but if you don’t understand why it’s happening and you’re used to looking only at the scale, you may falsely believe that your treatments aren’t working.

But this isn’t the case.

Your treatments are working and you are losing fat mass, it’s just that the increase in fat mass is balancing out the loss in fat mass, at least on the scale.

It’s actually a really good thing, too, because muscle mass is much more metabolically active and will help you lose more weight down the road.

This effect doesn’t last forever, though, because, at some point, your muscles will reach a point where they will no longer grow without further input from resistance training and protein intake.

After a few weeks, your muscles will stop growing (without the other inputs mentioned above) and the scale will start to move downward as you continue to lose fat mass.

But it’s not uncommon for this process to take around 4-6 weeks which is why using the scale as a measurement of success during the first 1-2 months of your weight loss journey, is a very poor metric of your actual success.

A better tool to assess whether or not what you are doing is working is body measurements.

Body measurements take into account both fat mass and muscle mass and are a much better measure of early weight loss success.

This is primarily because muscle is more dense than fat.

If you lose one pound of fat and gain one pound of muscle, your weight will remain the same, but because muscle mass is more dense, your body will shrink in the process.

Make sense?

So when you check your body measurements, you are getting a much better assessment of how much fat mass you are losing and how much muscle mass you are gaining.

For best results, take the following measurements each week while using GlucoSlow Fiber:

  • Hips: Find the widest part of your glutes and take the measurement.
  • Chest: Find the widest part of your chest and take the measurement (be mindful of your menstrual cycle which can impact your breast size)
  • Thighs: Find the midpoint between the lower glutes and the back of the knee, and take your measurement here.
  • Waist: Find the narrowest part of your natural waist and take your measurement.
  • Arms: Find the midpoint between your shoulder bone and the elbow of your arm. Take the measurement here.

You’ll know if you are on the right track when you see your body start to shrink (some places will shrink faster than others).

helps cravings

First I tried stirring it into cold water. It was clumpy and tasted horrible, hard to swallow with dry clumps that didn't mix in. Next I used my immersion blender and it mixed in much better. It does work great for evening cravings when I take it before dinner. But the taste is so bad it's hard to take even though I know it's beneficial. I'm wondering if it could be mixed with something besides water or if I could put water flavoring in? I don't take daily yet, but will start trying it on my fasting days.
