The Missing Thyroid Hormone: What Is T2 and Why It Matters

The Overlooked Thyroid Hormone That’s Missing From Your Medication

“Everything Was ‘Normal’ But I Still Felt Awful.”

She was doing everything right.

She took her thyroid medication, as instructed. She cleaned up her diet (cutting out processed food & sugar). She even added every recommended supplement she could find from gurus and influencers.

And yet… nothing changed.

She was still tired all of the time. Her weight wouldn’t go down. Her hair was still thinning. And her brain felt like it was wrapped in fog all day long.

Her doctor looked at her labs and said the same thing they always say:

“Everything looks fine. Your thyroid labs are normal.”

But she knew her body. She knew something was off. And she was tired of being dismissed.

So she did what most thyroid patients aren’t expected to do:

She started digging.

What she found changed everything.

She came across something that none of her doctors ever mentioned:

A lesser-known thyroid hormone called T2.

T2 isn’t measured on standard thyroid lab tests, and it isn’t included in standard thyroid medications.

And most doctors haven’t been trained on what it is or what it does.

But here’s what the research says:

T2 plays a critical role in metabolism (1), energy, fat-burning (2), and mitochondrial function (3).

In fact, it also helps other thyroid hormones, like T3 and T4, do their job.

So while her labs looked “normal”, her body was starving for complete and healthy thyroid function at the cellular level.

Supporting T2 made the difference she had been searching for.

After adding T2 into her daily routine, everything began to shift.

She started to have more energy. And that energy became more stable.

Her brain fog started to lift. She felt like she could hold a conversation.

The scale even started to move down, slowly but surely, for the first time in years.

And this all happened without extreme dieting and without thyroid medication adjustments.

It was as if she was back to her normal pre-thyroid self again. For the first time in over a decade.

So what is T2, really?

  • T2 is a naturally occurring thyroid hormone your body makes in small amounts.
  • It’s not available in thyroid medications like Synthroid or levothyroxine.
  • It’s the only thyroid hormone available over the counter (which means you don’t need a prescription to get it).
  • And despite its importance, it’s been almost completely ignored by conventional doctors for years.

But thousands of thyroid patients are now using targeted T2 support to help their bodies and thyroid function the way it was meant to. And as a result, they are taking control of their thyroid.

“This was the missing link!”
“I have been hypothyroid for many years and was doing okay on NP Thyroid until the fatigue and weight gain started creeping back. My doctor adjusted my meds based on labs, and it helped a bit, but I still wasn’t back to feeling like myself.
I tried T2 about 10 weeks after my last med adjustment and that’s when things finally changed. Around the 6–7 week mark, I noticed more energy, more motivation, and that things I used to dread felt easy again. I’m loving exercise again and feel like I’m back to my real self. I didn’t even realize how far I’d drifted until I came back. I LOVE this product. It was the missing link in my treatment.”

  1. Do you have to be on thyroid medication with Hashimotos? My antibodies were 12 & 8 in 2015 but no one diagnosed me. I checked my antibodies in June and they are now 5 & 5. I would rather not go on medication and hear from others that it does not help with fatigue and weight loss. Ugh! I have not been able to lose weight since giving birth to my last child at the age of 36. That was 23 years ago. I have literally tried everything to lose weight. The only thing that moved the needle was 36 hr fasts which I am now learning is not good for those with Hashimotos. Wondered if starting your T2 could help?

    • Hi Beth Ann,

You do not necessarily have to be on thyroid medication if you have Hashimoto’s, though you may find it helpful if you have thyroid gland destruction/damage. The goal in someone who has Hashimoto’s is to put your disease into remission so you stop the attack on your thyroid gland. If you can do that then you won’t need to take thyroid medication (or at least it greatly diminishes the odds that you will need to take it).

As far as weight loss goes, T2 can be helpful and has helped many people in similar situation as yours. It’s always impossible to predict how it will impact any given individual, though.

  2. Hello my name Christina Jensen I seriously suffer from hyper thyroid issues please give me someone to help me

    • Hi Regina,

Yes, but you would only want to use it if you have:

      1. Undergone thyroid removal or radioactive iodine ablation.
Or 2. Are currently doing add-back or block and release treatment.

If you are actively hyperthyroid and taking methimazole, you would not want to use it. But most hyperthyroid patients are actually hypothyroid and just don’t realize it since all of the treatments for hyperthyroidism result in permanent thyroid gland reduction and reliance on thyroid medication for life.

    • Hi Connie,

Absolutely. T2 is great for those without a thyroid because they no longer produce any thyroid hormones. It’s even more important in this situation.

        • Hi Connie,

Sorry, I must have confused your comment with another! T2 is great to use alongside Armour Thyroid because Armour contains very low amounts of T2, if any. Adding T2 helps complement the T4 and T3 in Armour by supporting metabolism and cellular thyroid signaling without pushing T3 too high. It is a simple way to round out what Armour provides.

  3. I am taking Armour thyroid 30mg. I only get blood work done every 6 months, but feel lousy every day. So tired I could sleep all day. I am 81 years old and have been on thyroid medicine for years. Do I take the T2 with the Armour? Thanks, Suzanne

    • Hi Suzanne,

Yes, you can take T2 at the same time as your Armour, and that is how most people do it. I recommend taking them together in the morning as you usually take your Armour, and avoid calcium or iron within 4 hours since those can interfere with thyroid meds.
