I spend thousands of dollars each year to keep my thyroid functioning at 100%.
Why?
Because it’s the most important hormone in the body, bar none (and it’s also my job!).
But here’s the bottom line:
There are a few simple purchases that you can make that will help keep your thyroid healthy, so maintaining your weight and energy feels like a breeze.
Don’t waste your money on things that don’t work. Use these instead:
#1. Weighted Vest
Exercising for your thyroid is a balance:
Too much and you risk lowering your T3, but not doing enough can do the exact same thing.
That’s why I absolutely love low-intensity exercises for thyroid health.
And there’s no better way to get there than with weighted walking.
I walk 1 mile almost every single night with my wife before bed to burn a few extra calories, lower my cortisol, and get my body ready for sleep.
If you aren’t taking advantage of weighted walking, give it a try.
A 12-pound vest plus a 1-mile walk is all you need.
#2. King Arthur Gluten Free Bread Flour
As a thyroid patient, it’s usually a pretty good idea to limit gluten intake.
Not only will this keep your gut healthy, it also forces you to stay away from most unhealthy foods on the planet.
But if we are being honest, gluten-free baking can be bland…very bland.
Enter King Arthur gluten-free bread flour.
This isn’t a standard measure-for-measure flour; it’s made with gluten-free wheat dextrin that creates a final baked good that closely resembles cooking with wheat.
It’s been life-changing for my family and kids.
Gluten-free baking has come a long way in the last decade, and it’s only getting better.
If it’s been a while since you’ve tried going gluten-free, give this flour a try (lowering inflammation could result some easy weight loss).
*Note: You MUST get the one that says Gluten-free BREAD flour (not measure for measure).
#3. Silicon Head Scrubber
This is simple, but hear me out:
A silicon head scrubber is one of the easiest ways to support thyroid-damaged hair.
You just purchase one for a few bucks, throw it in your shower, and massage your scalp every day when you’re in there.
It feels good, and it enhances blood flow to your scalp, which brings the nutrients your hair needs to grow.
P.S. If you don’t want to pony up a few bucks for a head scrubber, you can always do headstands, but I prefer the scrubber.
Any will do, but here’s an example of one that will work.
#4. Rosemary Hair Oil
This is another thyroid hair hack:
Rosemary essential oil for your scalp.
In some head-to-head studies (1), rosemary oil performs equally to minoxidil (Rogaine) in hair regrowth.
Not only is it incredibly effective, it’s also 100% natural.
I love rosemary oil so much that I’m developing a product specifically for thyroid patients that contains it (I’m still tweaking the formula, but I’m hoping to get it out in Q1 of 2026).
I put the oil directly in my shampoo and conditioner so it gets on my scalp each night, but you can always massage it in using your brand-new silicon scrubber.
There isn’t a perfect version on the market for thyroid patients, but this is the best of those available.
#5. Thyroid Red Light
I’ve been experimenting with red light on my skin, thyroid, scalp, and hair, and I’ve been extremely impressed. So impressed that it’s now a part of my daily routine.
In an ideal world, you’d get all of the wavelengths found in red light from the sun. But that’s not the world we live in.
Which is why I think owning a red light of some type is a must-have for thyroid patients.
You can use it to literally rejuvenate your thyroid gland (2), or stimulate your hair to grow (3), or to improve the texture and quality of your skin (4).

I’ve even seen some thyroid patients use it for chronic joint pain and vagus nerve simulation.
I currently have two red light devices designed specifically for thyroid patients (with all of the wavelengths they need):
And the Thyroid Massager.
Get the big light if you already know and love red light. If you’re just starting out, try the Thyroid Massager.
#6. Ninja Creami
If you want a healthy thyroid, you need to eat well. It’s that simple.
But healthy eating can get boring. That’s where the ninja creami steps in.
It allows you to make high-protein, low-fat, “healthy” ice cream with just a handful of ingredients.
If I’m being honest, it’s about 80% as good. But it’s easily 10x healthier than regular ice cream, so the trade-off is well worth it.
I use cottage cheese as the base, along with maple syrup, protein powder, and cocoa powder for a delicious 25+ gram healthy protein ice cream snack.
It feels indulgent while allowing you to stay on track.
#7. Water Flosser
A healthy mouth is probably more important than you realize.
If you don’t take care of your gums, they are a breeding ground for bad bacteria that can cause low-grade inflammation throughout your body.
This is terrible for your T3 levels and for your antibodies if you have Hashimoto’s.
That’s why I use a water flosser daily.
It makes daily flossing easy, fast, and effective.
It’s a small upgrade with big benefits. I use mine every night before I brush my teeth.
#8. Vitamin C Serum
Here’s a truth that most thyroid patients don’t want to hear:
Thyroid problems cause you to age faster.
You can’t stop the aging process, but you can definitely slow it down, and one of the best ways to do that is with vitamin C serum.
Daily use will help reduce wrinkles, brighten your skin, and even out your skin tone (5).
The key is all about using the right product.
You need one that has the right pH (2.5-3), the right form of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), and the right concentration (10-20%).
#9. Reverse Osmosis Water Filter
As a thyroid patient, your body is going to hold on to chemicals and toxins more than the average person.
This is because thyroid dysfunction prevents sweating and slows down liver detox pathways.
But you can prevent this from ever becoming a problem by simply reducing your exposure to said chemicals.
The water you drink is the #1 way to do that.
A reverse osmosis water filter removes microplastics, heavy metals, PFAS, chlorine, fluoride, and other contaminants.
If you aren’t already, get yourself an RO filter and add it to your kitchen sink. They are easy to install and low-maintenance.
Here’s one that I recommend.
#10. Collagen Peptides
There are a few things that I think every single thyroid patient should use daily. One of those is collagen.
Why?
Because everyone will experience a decline in collagen over time, but thyroid patients experience a more rapid and faster decline.
But collagen is one of those things you can easily supplement with, and when you do, you feel the benefits quickly.
30 days of use = better skin
60 days of use = healthier joints & hair
120 days of use = stronger bones
I use 19-20 grams of collagen daily for this reason, and I don’t ever plan on stopping.
Here’s the one I recommend for thyroid patients.
#11. Non-Toxic Air Fryer
Fast and easy cooking is essential if you want to maintain a healthy thyroid.
But most kitchen tools are loaded with chemicals that enter your food and body when you use them.
A non-toxic air fryer solves both problems:
It makes cooking a breeze (you get low-fat, healthier fried food), and it limits chemical exposure that you’ll just have to sweat out later.
You’ll have to shell out a little bit more to get one that’s non-toxic, but it’s worth it.
Here’s the one that I use almost daily.
#12. HEPA Air Purifier
If you have an RO filter, you’re already covering your water intake.
But don’t forget about the air that you breathe.
A HEPA air purifier eliminates dust, microplastics, pet dander, spores, and chemical fumes on autopilot.
It’s very much a set it and forget it type of thing.
I blanket my entire house with 2 large units, but if you’re just starting out, get a smaller unit for your bedroom, kitchen, or office (wherever you spend the most time).
This is the brand that I use.
With today’s technology, it’s never been easier to support your thyroid with tools that actually make a difference.
The hard part is figuring out what works and what doesn’t. But I’ve done the work, so you don’t have to.
Try one or two of these and see how your body responds.
And if you have a hard time buying things for yourself, send them to a loved one to get them for you for the holidays!
